Today is Sheri and I’s anniversary, and it is a day which makes me very nostalgic and slightly romantic, but also very thankful for my wife and the adventure that God has given us. A crazy, scary, euphoric and loud journey. The loud parts are 4 and 2 years old this year.
There are a plethora of books on Marriage that Sheri and I have read or been part of bible studies on and honestly, I forgot almost every point in those books after a few weeks. In the end, marriage is hard work, like anything really worth doing.
You have to enter it with serious joy.
But if I have learned one thing in 8 years, it is that there is only one secret that has kept Sheri and I together so far. There is one thing that made this day…
…last.
It was not the 7 steps to loving your wife better.
It was not all the counseling we had.
It was not the tremendous group of married friends we live life with.
Those are all essential to keeping us thriving, but in the end, the reason we made it 8 years and hopefully about 52 more boils down to this…
Our parents and 4 sets of grandparents prayed for our marriage with us the day we tied that knot…
…and they haven’t
stopped for 8 years.
Thanks be to God, from whom all blessings flow.
